All year, I look forward to seeing the fireflies light up my backyard in June. This is a self-portrait of myself admiring their beauty. I was really happy to capture their glimmers with my camera.

Sunflower, British Columbia
Photograph by Dezene Huber, My Shot
I love the summer, and I love watching the garden around our home as it develops through the spring and summer. Each evening after work, when I come home for the day, I spend the first five or ten minutes walking around our garden checking which new flowers have arrived since the day before. Many days, I take my little son around the garden with me and let him point out the blossoms. This sunflower, appearing in late summer, was a culmination of our gardening efforts and gloriously told us that a wonderful summer with our family at home had ended and a pleasant autumn was now beginning. Prince George, British Columbia, Canada.

Beach Glass, Hawaii
Photograph by Lorenzo Menendez, My Shot
On the island of Kauai there is a beach where a now-closed glass factory used to dump excess glass on the beach. Over time the relentless waves eroded the sharp edges of the glass. Now all that is left is little rounded pieces of glass that have become part of the sand.

Aquatic Plants, Oregon
Photograph by Randall Scholten, My Shot
During summer months, aquatic plants multiply rapidly in Garrison Lake (southern Oregon coast). The plants are an important part of the ecosystem, especially since they foul the props of motor boats, which discourages the boaters from using the lake. Canoes and kayaks have little trouble from the plants, though, and find it easier to find peace and solitude. In this photo taken in the autumn, some sort of algae seems to be attacking the plants, making them look like green cotton candy.

River, Norway
Photograph by Peter Kopteff, My Shot
I was driving through Norway last summer on a hiking trip. Parked the car late at night in a random parking place to get a few hours of sleep. I was so tired of the driving I didn't give much heed to the roaring sound coming from outside, thinking it was just the river the road kept following. Woke up to this incredible show of mist and early sunlight all around me and my misplaced car.

Hermit Crab, India
Photograph by kunal gupta, My Shot
This picture was taken in the summer of 2010 at the beach of Digha, West Bengal, India. These beautiful creatures are usually found near the shore, where the water depth is very low ... And due to the tidal effect, when they reach the shore and get stuck in the sand, it's hard for them to go back to the water again. So, they can live in water as well as a small distance away from it, where they have a chance to go back again.-

Lake Moraine, Alberta
Photograph by Alex Richter, My Shot
Lake Moraine, Alberta, Canada during the summer. The glaciers in the background grind the rocks underneath as they melt in the summer and produce rock flour. The rock flour then flows down into the rivers, then streams into the lake and reflects the sunlight, giving the lake a brilliant blue color.
